Christopher “Skip” Tarran Reed-Custer High School Inducted 2018 Skip Tarran has been a member of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association for 23 years, beginning in 1995. In that time frame, Skip has served the IADA in numerous positions. Skip has been the District 9 Rep, he served on the Strategic Plan Committee, and for the past 7 years Skip has served on the Conference committee by coordinating the Retired AD 50/50 Raffle. Skip has been a member of the IADA Executive Board as the Division 3 Liaison for 7 years and also as the Mentor Chair and Retired AD Liaison. Prior to his 16 years in athletic administration, Skip served as a Science teacher, an alternate education teacher, and Skip coached high school and middle school wrestling, track and football. In 1995, Skip was named the athletic administrator at Reed Custer High School. Skip has served his school, his community, his conference, the IADA, the IHSA in numerous ways. For the past 16 years, Skip has served on the Executive board for the Illinois Coaches Association. Skip was named the Outstanding Athletic Director for Division 3 in 2002. Additionally in 2002, he was named the Class A AD of the year by the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association. He served the IHSA by serving on the Athletic Administrators Advisory Committee for seven years and various ad-hoc committees. Steve Haines, Athletic Director at Seneca High School, said, “During his years at Reed-Custer High School, Skip has been a class act who was able balance his beliefs and opinions with what was in the best interest of his school, our organization, and his conference. Skip has shown that he has the passion, the knowledge, and the work ethic to always get the job done.” Current Principal of Reed-Custer High School, Tim Ricketts, states that, “Skip brought our athletics programs to a whole new level. He developed our code of conduct to include drug testing, recognized and promoted coaches and athletes for their accomplishment, and worked closely with our athletic boosters to provide the best for our programs.” Skip’s extensive contributions to high school athletics and his dedication to the IADA are a few of the many reasons that led Skip to this selection as a member of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame. |
