Jack Drollinger - Fremd High School

Among his peers, “Jack was a leader in the Mid Suburban League. His service to the Illinois High School Association is second to none. He is well known and recognized across the state for his service to young people and the improvements he helped create for high school sports during his career. High school sports were better for having “Cadillac Jack” involved. Jack worked countless hours to meet the needs of the coaches and athletes at Fremd High School.
Jack Drollinger served as the athletic director at Fremd High School for 18 years from 1990-2008 and was a member of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association for each of those 18 years. Jack served the IADA in many leadership roles. He was the assistant registration chair, the registration chair, the assistant conference chair and conference chair. Jack also served on the IADA executive board. 
Jack earned his CAA in 1994. He was a member of the NIAAA for 18 years and was a presider at the NIAAA conference. 
During his tenure at Fremd High School, Jack served as the Mid Suburban League’s president for two years and secretary for two years. He was also the head golf coach from 1979-1990 and an assistant basketball coach from 1975-1990.
Jack has great memories of working with and getting to know the wonderful people involved in the IADA. He also sites working with the coaching staff and providing positive experiences for our students as one of the many highlights of his career. Because of his dedication and commitment to the athletic programs at Fremd High School, Jack was named IADA Outstanding Class AA Athletic Director of the Year in 2002. He was also named the IADA Outstanding Class AA Division Athletic Director of the Year in 2006.
Jerry Dobbs, athletic director at Palatine High School, has fond memories of Jack stating, “Jack always made well-thought-out decisions, putting the student-athlete first, which made him the person that many of us called on for advice. Dobbs went on to add that “Jack worked very hard in his job to build relationships with his colleagues. He was the type of athletic director that everyone wanted to be around. Fellow athletic directors respected the way he did the job and enjoyed working with him.”
Jack Drollinger’s role as a distinguished athletic director for 18 years and his dedication to the students and staff at Fremd High School guaranteed his selection as a member of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame.

The IADA Board would like to thank you for all that you do for the student athletes of your schools.  We all know the time and effort we put into our positions.  We come from small schools, large schools, middle and high schools; but no matter what, we all share in a common goal, and that is to provide the best educationally based athletic program for our students.
