Ron Hansen - West Chicago High School

Ron served as the athletic director for West Chicago for 20 years. He served at West Chicago from 1962-1993. He was an assistant in track, wrestling, basketball, baseball and football, and eventually head coach in baseball and football. He taught math and physical education during his tenure at West Chicago. Ron  was the director of health and physical education for  16 years.
He was inducted into the West Chicago Hall of Honor in 1994. He was one of two original members selected to the Hall that year. John Highland, principal at West Chicago says, “Mr. Hansen was one of the most energetic, enthusiastic, positive individuals ever to walk the hallways of Community High School.”
Ron’s superintendent Richard Kamm states, “Three traits come to mind when I think of Ron: dedication, judgment and integrity. Ron’s success is due to the fact that he truly enjoyed being with students and coaches.”
Ron was one of eight original founders of the DuPage Valley Conference. He served as secretary and president of the conference during his tenure. Known as “Butch” to his friends, if there were any DVC questions or history items Butch was the person to ask.
Since retirement Ron has stayed busy. He currently is the chairman of the task force evaluation for St. John the Baptist School, while serving on their athletic board.
The Illinois Athletic Directors Association is proud to have Ron Hansen as a member of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame.
