Dave Brost has been a member of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association for 19 years, beginning in 1993.  In that time frame, Dave had served the IADA as the District #9 Rep for six years and has been a presenter at the state conference on two occasions.

Previous to his 19 years in athletic administration, Dave served as a junior high Physical Education teacher and wrestling coach in Orland Park, an assistant wrestling coach at Carl Sandburg, Andrew, and Stagg

High Schools.  He also served as Drivers Education teacher, assistant football coach, head wrestling coach and Assistant Principal at Crete-Monee High School.  In 1993, he became the Athletic Director at Reavis High School for 6 years, before moving to Lincoln-Way East High School in 1999, which is a position he held for 13 years until his retirement in 2012. He served on numerous IHSA committees, including the Wrestling, Water Polo, and Gymnastics advisory committees.  From 2009-2012, Dave and Lincoln Way East High School hosted the IHSA boys’ gymnastics state finals.  Dave has also served the IHSA as a wrestling official for 30 years, where he was afforded the opportunity work the individual state finals and the team dual state finals.  The Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association named Dave as their “Official of the Year” in 2001 and he was inducted in the IWCOA Hall of Fame in 2002.  In 2010, Dave published a book We Can Do This.

Larry Bernard, retired Athletic Director at Bolingbrook, said, “I find it remarkable that his contribution to young people has come in a variety of ways, high school football and wrestling coach, high school assistant principal, IHSA wrestling official, an author, athletic director and even the president of his community high school booster club.”

Current Superintendent at Reavis High School District 220, Daniel Riordan, states that, “He was always there for students and advocated for their opportunities at every corner.  There was nobody better!  Mr. Brost is also a proud graduate from Reavis High School and continues to support the students and community of Burbank by now serving on the Reavis High School Educational Foundation.  He gives abundantly of his time and treasure.”

Dave’s extensive contributions to high school athletics and his dedication to the IADA are a few of the many reasons that led Dave to this selection as a member of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame.
