Job Description:  Team Duties:

● The Coach needs to be available during practice times which can range from

3:30-6:30 on or off campus. The coach must be available to travel on the bus to away game dates that could leave as early as 2:00 in the afternoon and games that can be on weekends.

● Be a leader of the entire program including building connections between JV and Varsity and relationships with the Middle School teams.

● Represent North Shore Country Day at all School, League and State Volleyball Meetings & Workshops ● Possess strong written and oral communication skills, including observing, listening, discussing and analyzing.

● Communicate weekly with players and parents.

● Promote their team and the school year-round ● Work effectively with other coaches and athletic administration at NSCD ● Provide supervision before and after practices and contests until all players depart.

● Participate in required school training and appropriate professional development Offerings.

Have a Willingness to take the team on an overnight/out of town trip ● Have a valid IL driver’s license and be willing to drive students upon occasion in school owned or rented vehicles.

Requirements:

BEFORE the start of the season, the Head Coach needs to acquire (if they do not have

already) the following certifications:

1) Current CPR and AED certifications

2) NFHS Coaching Fundamentals and First Aid course or ASEP certification completion

3) All IHSA requirements including rules meeting, concussion, PES, and Hate Speech Requirements.

The Head JV/Assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach will report to the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach and Athletic Director, and assist in supervising all volunteer coaches, to form an innovative and collaborative athletic department.

Responsibilities include:

•     Educate and coach Woodlands Academy student-athletes in the game of Volleyball

•     Provide leadership that promotes positive attitudes and good sportsmanship

•     Notifies team members of all Woodland’s Academy Athletic Program policies, procedures, and training rules as they pertain to the team

•     Plan and communicate to the Head Varsity Coach in all practice sessions and competition strategies which ensure the health and physical well-being of student-athletes

•     Schedules and coordinates, in conjunction with the Head Coach, summer camps, game schedules, practice schedules, team tryouts, meetings, team workouts, and summer open gym/conditioning sessions in coordination with IHSA regulations

•     Maintains, along with the head coach, the proper supervision of student-athletes at practices, games, in locker rooms, and on school-provided transportation

•     Conducts a mandatory preseason parent meeting, along with head coach

•     Coordinates the distribution, care, inventory, and collection of uniforms and equipment

•     Maintains individual and team records and statistics

•     Implements programmatic instruction of sequential fundamentals and proper conditioning for all levels of the program

Requirements and Qualifications:

•     Previous experience as a coach in Volleyball, required

•     Meets NFHS/IHSA Criteria and completion of NFHS courses, preferred

•     Must be available from the first allowable practice date as designated by the IHSA for all practices, games, and regional/state finals

•     Successful completion of criminal and sexual offender registry background checks
